Egg
The founders of Eggsotic Events, Egils and Shelley Matiss, created the company over 13 years ago. Since then, it has evolved as a leader in elegant, creative, and one of a kind event design. His name, Egils pronounced "Egg-eel" (silent s) comes from Latvia, where his family emigrated from, and helped spur the name of the company Eggsotic Events, since everyone just calls him 'Egg'.
Egils studied Architecture in Canada, worked for various Architectural firms, and started his own Construction company EBCORE Ltd renovating Victorian Town houses and building additions in Toronto, Canada. This background has been invaluable in pushing the envelope in event design as technical and logistical issues are the back bone of a well designed and timely executed event. To compliment this analytical side, Egils has been an artist and sculptor most of his life. He has been involved with various Art Organizations such as the Blackwell St. Art Gallery in Dover NJ, Riverside Art Gallery, and the Hunterdon Art Museum to name a few. Egils has organized many art installations, as well as exhibited his art work in solo and group shows in New York City, New Jersey, Boston, Canada and Latvia.
Egils also spent 10 years working as an Estate Manager in NJ for a family that utilized all his skills that included landscaping, managing a world class art collection, interior design and event coordination which is where Egils found his calling (and started his family of 3 - Kaija, Mikus and Tija).
It is this appreciation of art and simplicity of good design that Egils employs in all his events and displays.
Shelley co-founded the company with Egil and knows the business from the ground up. Familiar with all the jobs involved with Eggsotic, Shelley's creative and people skills always put a smile on our clients' faces. Shelley has an extensive background in the entertainment industry, having performed on stage and in commercials. Shelley also happens to be Ralphy's mentor and inspiration (see below).
Josh is our Warehouse Manager and Lead Installer. He graduated from Full Sail University's Show Production & Touring degree program in 2008 and has since worked as an Audio Engineer and Technician. Josh's skills include programming moving lights, mixing live audio, and troubleshooting technical equipment.
Alyssa is an Event Technician and Egg's Assistant. She graduated from Full Sail University in 2009 with two degrees - Show Production & Touring and Music Business. Alyssa's skills include marketing & publicity, design, and technical audio, video and lighting. Her attention to detail and enthusiasm are contagious.
Mick is Egils and Shelley's son. He studies video production at Raritan Valley Community College and has strong skills in design and prop construction. He has been part of the event staff for years and excels in lighting and technical installations.
Ralphy is the company PR Ambassador and is often found at the office. He loves to meet and greet our clients. He has a fine sense of smell and lunch time is his favorite time in his busy office schedule.
